Lee Nak-yeon Calls for Cooperation with the New Future Party

Former Democratic Party leader, Lee Nak-yeon, expressed his desire for cooperation with the “New Future Party” led by Lee Jun-seok, stating, “I hope we can work together for the challenges of our time.”

During his speech at the inaugural ceremony of the New Future Party’s central party, held at the National Assembly in Seoul, Lee emphasized that he and the members of the New Future Party share the same experiences and concerns. He expressed his commitment to taking similar actions in the future.

Lee pointed out the witnessing of South Korea’s decline, stating that families are now worried about the number of side dishes they can afford. He also highlighted the rising household debt and the lack of solutions, as well as the prolonged trade deficit despite being an export powerhouse. While national security is being emphasized, Lee noted that citizens are more concerned about the possibility of war.

Highlighting the consequences of inexperienced and unprepared individuals taking charge of national affairs, Lee emphasized the negative impact of incompetent and corrupt politicians monopolizing politics. He stated that the people are well aware of the changes and the kind of politics they want.

Lee concluded his speech by acknowledging that the challenges ahead are urgent and not easily solved by the efforts of one or two individuals. He called for cooperation from all parties to address the pressing issues of our time.

이낙연 전 더불어민주당 대표는 이준석 대표가 이끄는 ‘개혁신당’을 향해 “시대적 과제를 위해 우리 모두 협력하길 바란다”고 당부했다.

이 전 대표는 이날 국회 의원회관에서 열린 개혁신당 중앙당 창당대회 축사를 통해 “개혁신당 당원 여러분과 저는 똑같은 경험을 했고, 똑같은 문제의식을 느끼고 있다”며 “앞으로 행동도 똑같이 하는 것을 다짐했으면 좋겠다”고 했다.

그는 “우리는 대한민국의 추락을 목격하고 있다”며 “가정마다 반찬 수를 걱정하는 처지가 됐다”며 “가계부채는 위험 수위를 넘었는데 대책이 안 나온다. 수출 강국이 무역적자에 빠진 지 오래됐다. 안보를 큰소리치지만, 국민들은 전쟁을 걱정한다”고 지적했다.

이 전 대표는 “우리는 경험과 준비가 없는 사람들이 국정을 맡으면 무슨 일이 벌어지는지 처참히 경험하고 있다”며 “우리는 무능하고 타락한 사람들이 정치를 독점하며 어떤 일이 벌어지는지 아프게 체험하고 있다. 그래서 우리는 시대가 어떤 변화를 요구하고 어떤 정치를 원하는지 알고 있다”고 강조했다.

이어 “그 일을 우리가 함께해야 한다. 그 일은 매우 절박하지만, 결코 쉬운 일이 아니다”며 “한두 사람의 힘으로 해결될 일이 아니라는 것을 잘 알고 있다. 시대적 과제를 위해서 우리 모두 협력하길 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
